Currently the major sponsor for NABSA is the International
Programs in Chemical Sciences (IPICS). IPICS is
a part of the International Science Programs
of Uppsala University. It offers long-term
project-oriented support for developing
active and sustainable research environments
within chemistry in developing countries and
has generously sponsored NABSA's activities
since 1995/96.
International Organization for Chemical Sciences
in Development (IOCD) has
also availed financial support ($40,000) during
the period 1992-1995. IOCD is an international
nonprofit agency chartered in Belgium. Created
in 1981 by a group of scientists from 15 countries
meeting at UNESCO in
Paris, IOCD engages chemists of industrialized
and developing countries in collaboration that
benefits developing countries in health, agriculture,
and industry.
Professor Federico Mayor, former Director General
of UNESCO, visited NABSA in 1999 and made a generous
donation of $25,000. NABSA has also received
small grants since then to support short-term
visitors.
USAID gave a one-time grant of $25,000 in 1996.
UNIVERSITY
OF BOTSWANA is also a major sponsor
of NABSA
NABSA gratefully acknowledges the generous
support, and most of all the trust and confidence
it enjoys from these organizations. |
