NABSA's Activities
Sub-regional Postgraduate Students'
Symposia
Analytical Services | Short-term
Visits | Sub-regional Symposia
This is an activity that brings together postgraduate
students of chemistry from three universities of the region to one
of the institutions in order to make oral and poster
presentations of their research. The three universities
are The University of Botswana, the University of Potchefstroom
and the University of the Northwest in South Africa*.
The symposium is often started with a plenary lecture
by a senior staff from the host university, and thereafter,
it is devoted to the students. This activity is important
to build peer contact and critique and also to build
the confidence and moral of the students. The tenth
anniversary workshop is the current one held in the
Department of chemistry of the University of Botswana.

two South African universities have recently merged into

but are referred to as the Potchefstroom Campus and Mafikengt
Campus.
